Installation Instructions

Installation is a two step process. First, you download and install the Java virtual machine (VM) for your platform and then you download and install AlertView™.

Alertview™ will run on any platform that has a Java virtual machine, version 1.1.7 or higher. At this time, it does not run on Java2 (version 1.2). The following instructions are for the most common iplatforms. See the FAQ for more information.

Windows 95/98/NT

Install Java runtime 1.1.7
Add the Java 'bin' directory to your path and reboot
Install AlertView

Sun Solaris

Install Java runtime 1.1.7
Install AlertView™

Use tar to extract the files (tar xfpv alertview.tar)

Edit alertview script

Set the $ALERTPATH environment variable to the location of the AlertView files

Set the $JAVAPATH environment variable to the root directory of the Java runtime environment.

Other Unix Platforms

Install Java runtime version 1.1.7+

Platforms

Install AlertView™

Use tar to extract the files (tar xfpv alertview.tar)

Edit alertview script

Set the $ALERTPATH environment variable to the location of the AlertView files

Set the $JAVAPATH environment variable to the root directory of the Java runtime environment.

All Other Platforms

Install Java runtime version 1.1.7+

Use tar to extract the files (tar xfpv alertview.tar). If you do not have access to tar, e-mail us at support@zephyrus.com and we will send you the individual files.
